Michelle has completed Masters degrees in both Education (Special Education, Guidance & Counselling majors) and Psychology (Clinical); post-graduate certification in Clinical Neurophysiology; and advanced training in EEG assessment (qEEG & ERPs) and biofeedback therapy for application in clinical settings.

Michelle held management and professional leadership roles within Education Queensland as an Education Advisor and Band 6 School Principal; and for the past 15 years has been providing mental health services for children and adults in her role as Senior Clinical Psychologist and the Clinical Director of a well-regarded private mental health practice in regional, South-east Queensland. Since 2004, Michelle has specialised in psychological assessment and intervention, working with children and adults across the lifespan, particularly those with neurodevelopmental difficulties and disabilities.

In addition to clinical practice, Michelle is well regarded as a consultant and senior educator providing professional training and supervision to educators and health professionals. Michelle was an original facilitator for the Mental Health Professional Network and continued to lead two local groups for a three-year term of office, mentoring others to take on the coordinator roles. As an Adjunct Lecturer of the University of Southern Queensland, Michelle worked as a Supervisor of post-graduate psychology students and Associate Supervisor of post-graduate research students, having previously held a three-year lecturing position in the Masters of Guidance and Counselling program. More recently, Michelle has been appointed as a Clinical Educator for Southern Queensland Rural Health (a University Department of Rural Health consortium of the University of Queensland, University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health and Hospital Service, and the South West Health and Hospital Service). Michelle is AHPRA-approved for supervision in 4+2, 5+1, Higher Education and Clinical Registrar programs.

Michelle is an active contributor to a number of professional organisations: Member of the Australian Psychology Society since 2004 and Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. Within the APS, Michelle has been an active contributor at local branch, state chapter and national interest group level, being an inaugural member and Convener, of the APS Neurofeedback Interest Group (six years). The APS has endorsed Michelle as an approved Media Representative recognizing her work in applied neuroscience. In recognition of outstanding service, Michelle is an elected Fellow of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia (ANSA), ANSA President 2017-2019, and serves as the ANSA Conference Convener. Through ANSA, Michelle has coordinated a sub-group of members (The QClub) to pursue International QEEG Board Certification (awarded QEEG Diplomate status in 2016). Michelle is also Chair of the Australian affiliate body of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) – the only institute recognized worldwide that grants certification to practitioners who meet education and training standards in biofeedback. As a practitioner of advanced standing, Michelle has been certified as a Fellow of the BCIA.
